Keep Bangor Creative works to preserve our unique creative, artistic & cultural community and prevent the displacement of local artists and creative projects due to lack of resources.
Members are encouraged to show their support for Bangor’s arts & cultural sector and to recognize that local artists and arts organizations provide value to our economy and vibrancy to our community.
The initiative identifies, spotlights, and supports Bangor’s most innovative creatives and creative organizations. We support innovative and adventurous artists in the Greater Bangor, Maine area through funding, counsel, gatherings, & project development services. We recognize those who have demonstrated a commitment to the promotion of the arts, provide continuing opportunities for creative entrepreneurs, and build economic strength through our creative community.
Additionally, KBC acknowledges those who display a clear and action oriented vision to improve our community through artistic and creative initiatives.KBC also provides micro-grant opportunities to artists and arts organizations seeking to produce new work in the greater Bangor area.
We ask business members to commit to the following:
• Understand the important role that the arts, culture and creativity play in Bangor’s unique identity and continued growth. It creates a sense of place, stimulates economic growth, and gives vibrancy to our community.
• Display your membership sticker on your window / add logo to your website
• Compensate artists & creatives with a fair wage for their work
• Pledge to provide opportunities for local artists to be seen and heard – Display local art, showcase local musicians, provide space for performance or exhibition
